Immersive Audio(Visual) Installation in Three Parts (cyclic stages)
  • sound composition
  • visual composition
  • text composition
Calling upon the Threes invokes female/other/male, Maiden/Mother/Crone, morning/noon/night, birth/life/death, beginning/middle/end.

Each composition loops independently of each other.

Duration of this project instance is five minutes.

Title:

The title comes from spelling the first numerical instance of my date of birth and switching the “Os” for zeroes, representing the gauge of my earlobes, stretched based from various cultural mentions of lobe stretching representing a “listener”.

Installation:

Ideally the projection should fill as much of the allotted space as possible, floor to ceiling (larger the space the more projectors, up to three). The audio needs to have a defined right and left side based on the entrance to the piece.
This project draws inspiration from the 'Analogy of the Sun' (508b–509c), the 'Analogy of the Divided Line' (509d–513e), and the ‘Allegory of the Cave’ (514a-520a) in Plato’s Republic [Πολιτεία του Πλάτωνα].

Compositions:

The compositions will be played together but could have the ability to stand alone as separate projects. Each composition will express what only it could within the constraints of itself, i.e. each layer tells its own story in its medium that together paints a more complete picture and/or emphasizes or draws attention to specific points.

     Sound

The audio track is the beginning. I have started with Window Recordings of my surroundings at home, becoming the foundation layer. These recordings include rain, thunder, birds, and a train.

     Visual

The initial thoughts of imagery will include water. Video images will be stitched together with visual text.

      Text

I am piecing together various poems and other writings into a transcript/screenplay.
